Jesús Gómez Romero, vice-president of the Social Forum of Villanueva and a member of Los Verdes de Extremadura , wanted to present "the ecological perspective to the crisis," noting that environmentalists "do not only defend the environment, we also propose a model of society "in which" the concept of sustainability also applies to the economy "through an activity" eco-sustainable as an alternative to "self-destructive tendencies" of the economic system that generates benefits for society, produces decent, durable and does not cause this crisis as we are living. At the local level, Jesus criticized the lack of municipal government and the Socialist Party in the debate, and wondered whether it would be "the bad conscience" caused by their inefficiency to the crisis. He also criticized the heavy investment that is accompanying propaganda investments Social Investment Fund. Jesus concluded by mentioning the various Assemblies of unemployed and insecure emerging in Extremadura, and encouraged those present to consider the opportunity to transfer this experience associative and demanding to Villanueva de La Serena.
Francisco Javier Galán, a member of Izquierda Unida de Villanueva , said that "the crisis is global, but does not impact equally on all countries, regions and peoples," and explained that this impact Extremadura is aggravated by "the change in the production model, one based on agricultural and farming production to one based on the construction sector." Referring to the central government, Javier blasted "a government that calls itself leftist and it does nothing to remedy this situation." And regarding Villanueva de La Serena, recalled how different foreign-funded enterprise projects announced by the City Council, as the condom factory, have been reduced to "false promises, smoke, fumes and smoke." As an alternative, proposed to strengthen the base of the economy Villanovense food, promoting the town's location in the processing and marketing of food commodities produced locally, preferably by way of worker cooperatives.
Luis Perez, a union activist who intervened personally, began emphasizing the important impact of the crisis on employment in Villanueva de La Serena and local children, where in July 2008 to April 2009, registered in the SEXPO have gone from 2500 to 4100. Luis reported that the crisis is causing an increase in employers' abuses, the underground economy and fraud, and criticized the banks for a policy of "some yes, others not," generously providing credit to some major employers Extremadura but denying it to most SMEs in the region, thus experiencing a dramatic situation. Regarding the government's economic policy, said the various measures in the Plan E "generate a precarious employment is better than stagnation, but that does not solve the long-term problems, "and predicted a growth of" social tension "confome go running out of unemployment coverage of the new unemployed. Alternatively, Luis pointed to the need to develop" a new production model in which to grow industrial investment and R + D + I.
Francisco García Ramos, representative of Commitment Villanueva, criticized "a wrong division" of wealth and work, "in which some families live in the comfort of full employment and other full tragedy of unemployment," denounced "the lack of policy" to the crisis and criticized political parties that act "in the wake of the circumstances." He extended this criticism to the unions, "neither are nor are they expected" in the fight against the crisis and its social consequences, which are indistinguishable but "part of the landscape," became "administrative agencies for members, dedicated to membership and fee capture, and have no real presence in the conflict. " Also employers' associations, which are limited to "get along with the boss", regardless of their decisions. Francisco stressed the need "to be aware of the new social reality and political union that we are living in" no alternative " that the mobilization of civil society, which must overcome this stage and off and intermittent exercise "measures of pressure on the powers that be" to gain greater prominence and ability to respond to the crisis and "start new rights."
Jónatham Moriche, secretary of the Social Forum of Villanueva, began by noting that "an economic system based on speculation and debt is an absurdity that can only end badly" and that this crisis was been announced "by those to whom the power does not want to hear." Jónatham noted that although the crisis is global and needs global remedies, "we can not sit idly by waiting for the G-20 or governments do something," and it is possible to present "resistance of proximity, local responses to protect the impact of the recession in the municipalities: the transformation distressed companies into worker cooperatives supported by local councils, the creation of municipal public enterprises and cooperatives for marketing of local agricultural and livestock products and the exploitation of renewable energies, a ten-year moratorium on the reclassification of public land or the creation of a municipal park homes for social rent, among others.
In debate open after these interventions were analyzed, among other things, the strong negative impact of multinational companies established in Villanueva, such as Carrefour and McDonald's, on the labor market and the local economy, the existence clientelist practices in the allocation of public jobs and workload institutional businesses ... It also welcomed the possibility of forming an assembly of unemployed and insecure in Villanueva, an initiative on which some of these announced their willingness to continue working on.
